How to give Backdesk your ServiceM8 data

Two ways. Either one takes a couple of minutes, and the key gives the more accurate audit.

Option 1: an API key

  1. Sign in to ServiceM8 on a computer.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Open API Keys.
  4. Create a key, name it something like Backdesk audit, and set its access to read-only. The access level is set when the key is created and cannot be changed later.
  5. Copy the key.

Picked the wrong access? Delete the key in the same screen and make a new one. You can delete it whenever you like.

Option 2: the Job List export

  1. Open Settings, then ServiceM8 Add-ons.
  2. Turn on the Advanced Reporting Pack, if it is not on already.
  3. Open the Reports tab.
  4. Choose Job List Export.
  5. Save the CSV file it gives you.

That export covers every job, not just recent ones. The audit reads the last 90 days of quotes from it.

Send the key or the file to hello@backdesk.com.au or reply to Hesam's text. Backdesk sees quotes, job statuses and the customer details on those quotes. Nothing else. If you don't go ahead, we delete it after 30 days.
